Construction
The DS-3000 is a winch designed for maximum borehole depths of 3000m utilising 3/16” cable, or 7000m utilising 1/8” cable. It is designed with a small footprint made in a strong steel box construction capable of handling the toughest conditions and one that will last for many years. The drum is cast aluminium in construction to provide strength whilst reducing weight. A powder coated finish protects the winch from the elements and looks fantastic on any logging project.

Cable Spooling
The DS-3000 incorporates an accurate cable laying system using a very effective helical cable guide to automatically lay the cable uniformly and precisely on the drum. Although it is unlikely to be required, a convenient and simple-to-use manual adjuster is provided. The life of the helical shaft is increased through the provision of dust gaiters that provide protection from dust and dirt.

Slip Rings
Only the best slip rings are used on the DS3000. They provide reliable, uninterrupted communication between downhole instruments and surface acquisition systems. The durable, compact, maintenance free ball bearing construction together with high rev per minute capacity, low (electrical) noise and low resistance, make the Mercotac slip ring ideal for the DS3000 application.

Electric Motor & Controller
The winch is powered by an extremely reliable Baldor DC permanent magnetic electric motor. It is an enclosed fan cooled motor with 20:1 speed range and positive torque. It has short circuit, transient and overload protection and a rugged IP65 control enclosure. A 240V variable speed controller ensures smooth control from 1m per minute up to a maximum mid drum speed of 40m per minute.

Hydraulic Motor & Proportional Valve

BR50 with 40L/min delivery
BR80 with 60L/min delivery

The proportional valve select ed for the DS3000 is the PVG 32 Sauer Danfoss a hydraulic load sensing valve designed to give maximum flexibility from a simple load sensing directional valve.

Depth & Rate Measuring
Depth and Rate (m/min) are measured by two optical depth encoders and displayed on a programmable LCD monitor. The system is factory calibrated, providing accurate depth and rate measurements. The measuring wheel is machine-grooved and provides continuous cable contact using a spring-loaded pressure wheel combination that tracks along the helicon shaft.

Brake
Electric Winch has two independent operating brakes both controlled via a switch on the control box. A 240V pump deactivates a hydraulic brake in the gearbox mounted inside the winch drum. A second brake is mounted on the electric motor shaft and is actuated when neutral is selected on the “up/down” switch. Hydraulic Winch has the same brake as the electric winch mounted inside the gearbox. This brake is automatically actuated with the joystick as the operator brings the winch to a stop.

Warranty
Every winch is covered by a 5 year warranty on the frame and one year on all other components.
